Down the TBR Hole (3/11/19)

Down the TBR Hole is a bookish tag created by Lost in a Story It is made to help us shorten our ever growing TBR piles!

Here’s how it works:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Currently on my TBR: 1286 books

To be removed

Dollhouse (Dark Carousel #1)The Brokenhearted (The Brokenhearted #1)ARV-3 (The After Light Saga, #1)The Fire Wars (Fire Wars, #1)

Meh, just meh! Although Dollhouse does have quite an interesting sounding premise and I do love that cover but at the end of the day I’m more bored than interested in this synopsis which isn’t enough for me to go looking for this book series to buy myself. In fact all of the books here are not really available widely to buy and I wouldn’t be really interested in reading them anyway because of the typical sounding descriptions really 😛 I mean The Broken Hearted is exactly the type of book I wouldn’t go for nowadays as it hints at insta love, isn’t widely available and seems to be a lot about super heroes which is a subject I have vastly gone off of unless it is done really really well with explanations and all. I remember I did read Fade by Kailin Gow a long time ago and to say I wasn’t impressed was an understatement, it was just so messy and implausible and while I did think of reading on in the series at one point I quickly gave up on that idea. I don’t think I will read any more by this author either because of availability and that I couldn’t get on with the writing last time… There are always more new exciting books available anyways!

To be kept

The Host (The Host, #1)Storm Glass (Glass, #1)Touch of Power (Healer, #1)The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1)Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2)The Dead Ways (The Dead Ways, #1)

After hating Twilight even I’m a little surprised I’ve decided to keep the Host, but that description sound so so good 😛 It’s even been made into a movie and I’ve seen this book around my local libraries quite a bit in recent years so I will give it a try and hope for the best. There have been so many good things said about Samantha Shannon’s books especially this series and to be honest I can’t believe it has taken me this long to notice this book again 😮 I have also seen it around my library quite a bit but honestly don’t think I’ll get to pick it up soon because of my busy reading list of past started series and books I currently have out at the moment. One day, I totally promise. Maria V. Snyder is an author I got to like after reading her Insider series and though I still hope for more books in that series, I know I need to read her fantasy books too and have even looked at which order to read her Ixia fantasy books so now all I need to do is start them… Alexandra Bracken, I so need to carry on your awesome books! Once again I will say I cannot believe I haven’t continued this series after reading the Darkest Minds and enjoying it so that will definitely be a goal for next year. The Dead Ways and its sequel are books my library has so I will give these a go, though I do sense an uncompleted series here… They do sound too good though!

Have you read any of these books? 🙂
