Let me start by saying I’m not really big on birthdays at this present moment and I don’t like friends to give me gifts because then I have to return the favour on their special day, same goes for Christmas and I never know what to get people in return πŸ˜› This day last week was my birthday and it was a very busy birthday with my support workers and glorious weather which warranted a trip to the beach with her fabulous dogs πŸ˜€ It was great fun and a marvellous way to relax with such lovely weather! I saw this tag first onΒ The Book DutchessesΒ and you should totally check out their blog, if you haven’t already πŸ˜‰

Birthday Cake – a book with a plot that seems cliche but you adore it anyway

Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1)

I think I’ve seen in a few fantasy books instants where magic has been forgotten and kingdoms get conquered and there are royals trying to win back their thrones, they seem really popular themes and can get tedious but in this series the way the books are written makes everything so compelling and easy to enjoy. A series I will be finishing in time.

Party Guests – your most anticipated book release this year

Black Leopard, Red Wolf (The Dark Star Trilogy, #1)

I know this has been released a while back, but when I first caught wind of this book late last year it soon became one of my most anticipated reads and even more so when I saw my library bought copies in too! It’s an African inspired fantasy that really sounds like a fun ride especially whilst on holiday.

Birthday Presents – a book that surprised you with how much you loved it

Outlander (Outlander, #1)

At first I turned my nose up at this in a way as I wasn’t really into historical fiction and time travel much when I was younger, but now I’ve expanded my horizons and even though this book has been recommended to me many times by my support worker, I was still a little daunted by the negative reviews and the length but I needn’t have been the least bit apprehensive because this book was a pure gem that delivered on so many levels! πŸ˜€ I would definitely recommend and will write my review soon.

The Happy Birthday Song – a book that certainly deserved all the hype it got

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire #1)

CERTAINLY this one! I have the second book out from my library and just need to get time to carry on the series urrgghhh! But this was seriously good though and to me and many others it is worthy of all the attention it has amassed! πŸ™‚

Happy Music – a book with some very beautiful and truly memorable quotes

Cloud Atlas

There was a lot I liked and disliked about this book and the way it was written, but in the end the book was wholly worth it as this is an author with a lot of big scope ideas and a philosophical way of telling his stories. There were a few quotes I liked here and some that made me think deeply… but above all I can’t believe I haven’t read more of Mitchell’s works πŸ˜›

Getting Older – a book that you read a long time ago, but you think you would appreciate it more if you read it as a more mature reader

Wuthering Heights

I didn’t get on with this book very well when I read it back when I was 14 even though my friend seemed to love and understand everything about it. I wonder whether I would like it more now even though I haven’t made any plans to revisit but I guess one day I will get another desire to read more classics.

Sweet Birthday Memories – a book that kept you incredibly happy during a sad or demanding period of your lifeΒ

The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1)

When I read this I was going through a tough time in regards to college, but when I was reading this I remember feeling sparks of joy that really helped me stay positive. I need to read on in this series desperately!

A fun way to recap on much loved books and of course those fond birthday memories (well at least for me) Until next time πŸ™‚
