Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
Danger and betrayal, love and loss, secrets and enchantment are woven together in the breathtaking finale to the #1 New York Times bestselling Infernal Devices Trilogy, prequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series.
THE INFERNAL DEVICES WILL NEVER STOP COMING
A net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. Mortmain plans to use his Infernal Devices, an army of pitiless automatons, to destroy the Shadowhunters. He needs only one last item to complete his plan: he needs Tessa Gray.
Charlotte Branwell, head of the London Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. But when Mortmain abducts Tessa, the boys who lay equal claim to her heart, Jem and Will, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are now engaged, Will is as much in love with her as ever.
As those who love Tessa rally to rescue her from Mortmain’s clutches, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself. But can a single girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?
“I’m afraid,” said the little girl sitting on the bed. “Grandfather, can you stay with me?”
Aloysius Starkweather made an impatient noise in the back of his throat as he drew a chair closer to the bedside and seated himself. The impatient noise was only part in earnest.
“He had gone mad in there,” she said, chafing his cold hands between hers. “In the days before he transformed, when Gabriel said he would not leave the room, his mind must have gone. He had scrawled on the wall in what looked like blood, sentences about the Infernal Devices. That they had no pity, that they would never stop coming-”
A book that didn’t get off to the best start for me as I found everything a bit slow, but there again that was probably due to me being in a kind of slump (I still kind of am now). I know I so need to get more books finished but I’m not really feeling that enthusiastic at the moment believe it or not 😛 The Night Circus, my previous read turned out to be a total slow paced disappointment which I will be reviewing soon, but it didn’t help at all with this reading rut I somehow have gotten myself into As I read on in this book I found things certainly started to pick up and move along faster and I know this in the end is not a disappointing read because how could Cassandra Clare ever be disappointing? This is a good series really, but I don’t know whether I’d say it is better than the Mortal Instruments series or not as they both are good and not so good in their own different ways. After finishing this book I will be reading the last two books i TMI if and when I ever get round to finishing off more of my previously started series 😉
