TTT: Series’ that I started years ago that I need to finish

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl come January 2018. It was made through the love of lists, books and to bring readers together.

Series… I think I have made it my new years bookish resolution in the past two years now to finish off any series’ that I have started in the past but kind of forgot about over the years. I seem to be terrible for starting a new series but then forgetting to read the sequels even when the story intrigued me and I wanted to find out how everything turned out. Recently, since coming back from Japan I ordered a lot of books from my library which are continuations of series I’d started before and also recently I’ve had to cancel them because I don’t have any room on my card and I’m not getting through my current books fast enough. But here I will show ten series I started a long time ago, want to finish but need to find the time in my overcrowded library TBR and you’ll notice that a lot of these books are dystopian novels and that is because when this genre was all the rage I too was also mad about these type of stories (I still kind of am now, but these days I focus more on fantasy).

Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky, #3)The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking #2)

Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi

Read the first book back in 2013 and the second one a few years ago, thought the first book was fantastic and the second one kind of dragged. Maybe that’s why I haven’t gone any further but I really want to even if only to get closure 😛

The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness

It has been AGES since I read the Knife of Never Letting Go and it even ended on a cliffhanger but over time I never really felt compelled to pick up this second book even though now I want to find out what happens to this world and the characters. It’s readily available in my library at least.

World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2)Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2)

World After by Susan Ee

I didn’t really like the first book in this trilogy as I found everything really absurd and I didn’t think the story was crafted in the best way, still the author did manage make the story stick with me until now and these days it feels like I’m unearthing more potential good reads 😉

Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken

Loved the first of this series but as I recall I have been trying to carry on with these books but they were always taken out by someone else at my library… I will try again, that’s for sure!

Outpost (Razorland, #2)The One (The Selection, #3)

Outpost by Ann Aguirre

I remember the first book being full of suspense and interesting characters that kept me turning the pages, so I don’t know why I haven’t read on in this series in all this time 😛

The One by Kiera Cass

I can’t say I’m a massive fan of this series because they’re so romancey and as other bloggers have said “swoon-worthy” which is not something I consider with my books. There is still a lot of intrigue in the story that I’d love to delve deeper into and it would also be good to get closure for these books and characters too!

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)Enders (Starters, #2)

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

Another one where I wasn’t too keen on the first book but am still kept intrigued as to what will become of the world and characters. I had to cancel the orders for these books last week for lack of space on my library card as mentioned before 😛

Enders by Lissa Price

I remember really loving Starters and at the time Enders wasn’t available from my library… well it is now and once I get my TBR down I will have to order this.

Override (Glitch, #2)Spell Bound (Hex Hall, #3)

Override by Heather Anastasiu

Despite the years since I read the first book, I remember the plot really well! I found the story and characters average at most and while lots of people didn’t see anything special in this, I’m still wanting to see what happens next.

Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins

Such a fun, refreshing series and that second book ended on such a cliffhanger… Must request for library to buy in 😉

A lot of series catching up for me to do! Are you guilty of starting series off and not finishing them for years to come or do you stick to a series once you’ve started it? 😉 🙂

  1. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Shatter Me, so I still haven’t read the other books. I have read The Selection series though, and I can tell you The One is the worst book on the series. If you haven’t read it I would advise against it.
    Great topic!

  2. I freaking love The Darkest Minds series, but it took me years to continue to the second book – read it last year, and had to reread the first, because I was so lost haha. Still need to read the fourth addition, though. I really loved the original three books in The Selection series, and then gave up on the spin-off, sadly. But The One was superb, I though. I also really enjoyed the Razorland trilogy, I binge-read the trilogy in a few days. Good luck with getting to these books. 🙂
