It’s been such a while since I last did a book tag because of my busy college and home schedule… 😛 but this is a tag I saw on Stephen Writes and Misty’s Book Space which I thought really relates to me at the moment. My responses are as follows 🙂
You have 20,000 books on your TBR, how do you decide what to read next?
I mostly decide what to read next by looking at which books from my TBR my library has in stock as a great deal of my books come from the library one way or another. Also if I’m going on holiday I look for any books that are based in a similar setting/culture to where I’m going but that also usually comes down to whether my library has them in stock or not and I do sometimes ask them to get in books that are not in their catalogue, but mostly I look for things they do have.
You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?
Depends on how much I’m not loving it, sometimes if the synopsis is still interesting but the plot and characters have been executed poorly I will carry on even if only to satisfy my curiosity, but if the book is so boring that even my ECDL manual looks more interesting then I’m not going to continue. It also depends on my mood, if I’m feeling very low and a book is not engaging me then I will look for something that will help me feel better… hopefully 😉
The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge. Do you try to catch up? And if so, how?
I try my best to catch up but sometimes I cheat by lowering the challenge number if I see I’m a long way off and will not be completing it no matter what. I’ve probably said something blasphemous there but I believe in being honest 😛 🤣😂
The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?
I have two series at home where this is the case but to be honest (again lol) I don’t really care as I feel it is the content inside that really matters whether a book is worth keeping.
Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?
Not really sure… on saying that my support workers and I talk a lot about books but those conversions don’t last long because they don’t read nearly as much as I do, but they have recommended me some awesome books, some of which I have yet to try, and I discuss those all the time but once again there is only so much I can talk about without droning on. 😛
You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?
I don’t often read books with a lot of people around as I’m usually not at ease enough to read in the presence of many others, but if I was to cry I’d probably close the book and do something else or excuse myself and finish the book in private.
The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?
Sometimes reading the sequel is enough to job my memory as things come back to me as the story progresses. If I were to really forget what happens in the first book then yes, I think I would reread it especially if I remember really liking it 🙂
You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?
Honestly, no one around me does want to read my books! I don’t have much of a social life and my social life is pretty much non-existent outside of college so there isn’t really anyone who would want to borrow anything off me, but if someone did… I don’t know… it would be proper awkward but I guess I’d try to change the subject of the conversation and hope for the best.
You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?
I then try to get out a book I practically know I’m going to enjoy like the continuation of a fantasy series I love or a new debut I’ve been really looking forward to. I also try to go easy on myself and not put too much pressure on to finish the books even though with my massive TBR sometimes that is not an option 😉
There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read. How many do you end up buying?
With books that are coming out I don’t tent to buy them, I let my library do that 😉 but with the unavailable in print books I have to buy in order to read, well it depends on how much I’ve already spent that month and whether I think my parents will find out (mum hates me buying kindle books as she thinks they’re a waste of money and I have enough to read already)… I will NEVER have enough to read, there’s no such thing as too many books 😒
After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read, how long do they sit on your shelf before you read them?
Oh absolutely ages! The books I buy tent to nearly always be the cultural books that I take on holiday with me so I always tend to wait to see if the perfect type of trip will pop up and of course library books are always prioritised, but yeah I’ve got tonnes of books on my shelves gathering dust 😂😂😆
