Book Blogger Hop: May 31st – June 6th

Book Blogger Hop is hosted at Coffee Addicted Writer

The purpose of the Hop is to learn about new books, make friends with other bloggers, follow other blogs discover new books and gain more followers for your own blog. The hop will start on a Friday and end on a Thursday and will feature a weekly prompt asking a bookish question.

This weeks question:

Do you read books over 400 pages?

Yes, yes and yes again! 😀 Nowadays I tend to only go for books with more than 300 pages and it is quite rare for me to go for the shorter books which is because I really like to immerse myself in the stories and like to be with the characters and world for as long as possible. Mind you, sometimes if a book rambles on pointlessly then yes it certainly needs to be shortened down or edited and there are times when I’ll DNF a book for boredom when nothing much is happening in a lot of pages, but otherwise the more pages the merrier in my opinion as I will go for the really long fantasy books and the longest book I’ve ever read was Stephen King’s IT which was over 1300 pages long 😮  So yeah, long books are not daunting for me at all they’re inviting and I will always look out for them! 🙂 Do you read books with more than 400 pages?

happy friday STICKER

  2. Stephen King has a way of making even the longest books go fast when a person reads them, doesn’t he? I haven’t read It, but I have read a few of his other books that are on the long side. I hope you have a great week!

    • Oh yes I have only read IT by Stephen King and even though there were parts where not a lot was happening, it was still compelling enough that I wanted to carry on reading to find out what happens next. He is an awesome writer! Hope your week goes well too 🙂

  3. Ok, so I have to be honest and say that books with this many pages does tend to put me off, 200-300 is my average. That’s not to say I haven’t read longer and really enjoyed them, there are at least half a dozen books on my Goodreads 5 star rating shelf that are over 400.

I think it helps if there’s enough going on in the plot to keep me engaged, for example, Blade of Darkness by Dianne Duvall was 541 pages long and I absolutely loved it and devoured every page! The same with Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia which is a whopping 735 pages long.

    • Most of the time I go for the really long books and I’m probably the opposite to you as short books and short stories tend to put me off 😮 Each to their own, but it is definitely the plot inside that makes a book worth reading or not 🙂
