This weeks question:
Recommend one horror novel for non-horror readers.
I’m not sure I’ve read that many horror novels I mean sure I’ve had some of the YA books I’ve read try to be scary with other readers saying they’re scary and all but not me. So far I have yet to be scared by a book as I find films and visuals do it more for me (try looking up the short film Lights Out, it’s not much compared to the horror films out today but it successfully manged to creep me out and had me very aware I was alone in my house. I know that sounds very weak but I’m a wuss with horror visuals and I showed it to one of my friends in college who claimed to like horror films and even she admitted it was something you couldn’t unsee and would have made her feel worse if she had been watching it alone, so first of all with someone who wanted to be scared I’d show them Lights Out first and see if they still wanted more). But I guess the only hardcore horror book I’ve read has to be Stephen King’s IT and I know many others have been making Halloween recommendations with it but it is a book I would love to recommend especially to those who want something truly gritty yet well written. IT has even failed to frighten me even though I read most of it in the dark… but there are plenty more horror novels and novels by Stephen King out there! 😉
