T5W: Favourite books featuring vampires

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme created by gingerreadslainey and now it is hosted by Thoughts on Tomes .  If you are interested in taking part in T5W visit the Goodreads group.

This week’s topic is favourite books featuring a paranormal creature of choice, and once again it appears I haven’t read as many books as other people especially when specific topics are chosen 😛 I have read books featuring werewolves, faeries, ghosts, angels, shapeshifters, mermaids and just about anything but not enough of any one to make a list about. It turns out I have read quite a few vampire books and most of them I very much enjoyed, most are part of series’ so here are my favourite books/ series featuring vampires 🙂

The Morganville Vampires series

The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2)

I will be honest and say at first I wasn’t taken in by this series, but this book, the second book proved there was so much to love about the brutal world that has been created here. Some of the books in this series are average still, but most keep me at the edge of my seat and wanting more! I also know this is a series I need to finish soon if only I had the time 😛

The House of Night series

This is another series where the beginning wasn’t exactly great same going for the characters, but around this book (book 5) things really started getting very interesting with the introductions of mythology and a larger plot. I’ll also add I really enjoy the magic systems in these books and watching the characters develop and strongly look forward to continuing.

Dangerous Girls series

Dangerous Girls (Dangerous Girls, #1)

This series really blew me away on so many levels. Saying it was awesome doesn’t begin to cover the greatness that was these books! I loved them mainly because they were quite darker than the usual YA vampire novel, they were also more action and character induced which will always be an advantage with me 🙂

The Hunt series

The Hunt (The Hunt, #1)

This is one of those books where I finished it thinking it was average but after a while came to like it more. I still can’t believe I haven’t finished this series as it has been years since I read this 😛 Good thing most of the plot is still in my memory and I much look forward to finding out more about this world and characters.

 The Vampire Academy series

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

I need to reread this book. I do remember having mixed feelings for it at first but later appreciating the plot and magic systems more. I also remember the characterisations and magic being very well realised and I have been meaning to reread this entire series for years now 😛 Everyone else seems to love these books saying they get better and better so they’re going to be a priority once I’ve got my massive library TBR down.

Have you read any of these books? What are your favourite paranormal books? 🙂
