WHEN FRIENDS STOP TRUSTING EACH OTHER, DARKNESS IS THERE TO FAN THE FLAMES…
THINGS HAVE TURNED BLACK AT THE HOUSE OF NIGHT. ZOEY REDBIRD’S SOUL HAS SHATTERED. With a broken heart making her want to stay in the Otherworld forever, she’s fading fast. As the only living person who can reach her, Stark must find a way to save her. But how? He will have to die to do so, the Vampyre High Council stipulates. And then Zoey will give up for sure. There are only seven days left…
Enter BFF Stevie Rae. She wants to help Z, but she has massive problems, too. The rogue Red Fledglings are acting up again. Her kinda boyfriend, Dallas, is sweet but too nosy. Stevie Rae’s hiding a secret that might be the key to helping Zoey, but which also threatens to explode her whole world.
In the middle of the whole mess is Aphrodite: ex-Fledgling, trust-fund baby, total hag from Hell (and proud of it). She’s always been blessed (if you could call it that) with prophetic visions, but now it seems Nyx has decided to speak through her, whether she wants it or not. Aphrodite’s loyalty can swing a lot of different ways, but right now Zoey’s fate hangs in the balance.
Three girls… playing with fire… if they don’t watch out, everyone will get Burned.
Kalona lifted his hands. He didn’t hesitate. There was no doubt whatsoever in his mind about what he had to do. He would not allow anything or anyone to get in his way, and this human boy was standing between him and what he desired.
Neferet touched the High Priestess but not with her hands. She manipulated the threads from deaths she is responsible for, sacrifices she’s made, and dark promises she means to keep.
What can I say, I actually like this series while everyone else hates them. There’s still the same amount of intrigue and there are new mythologies introduced (yay) which will always be a plus and at the moment I can’t see round the corner so maybe there are some surprises to come… While these may not be the best books I’ve ever read, I still find the characters and magic systems entertaining especially when I’m looking for a nice calm read with lighthearted moments. Even though I have said in the past that I tend to prefer dark books to light ones, these books tend to have the right mix which is what I find entertaining about them. I also see that my library has other books by these authors, which I’m dying to read, but I’ve made it my goal to finish off series I’ve started in the past before starting too many new ones. I can understand why others might not like these, but for me they’re good fun when I’m looking to relax (a kind of guilty pleasure). 🙂
