Book Blogger Hop: Halloween Edition!

Book Blogger Hop is hosted at Coffee Addicted Writer

The purpose of the Hop is to learn about new books, make friends with other bloggers, follow other blogs discover new books and gain more followers for your own blog. The hop will start on a Friday and end on a Thursday and will feature a weekly prompt asking a bookish question.

This weeks question:

It’s getting close to Halloween. If you HAD to read one of these two genres, which would you prefer — urban fantasy, or horror, and why?

Oooh tough one! I love both urban fantasy and horror (even more if there’s a mixture of both) and so far I have yet to be freaked out by a book, but there are plenty of films that have done the job nicely 😛 I think if I was really forced to choose between one I’d choose urban fantasy because UF can cover a wide range of fantasy topics and I find I get on better with the characters and settings of UF as well as the plot as they most of the time focus on the plot and character development (from what I’ve seen). It’s a tough one though, because sometimes horror novels can be really in-depth too but with a lot of the horror novels I’ve read they seem to try a little too hard to scare (mind you the horror novels I’ve read are mostly cheap ones I’ve bought on kindle) so I guess I really need to read more of Stephen King 😉

Which one would you choose? 🙂

  2. I would pick a horror novel by Stephen King or John Saul. Both authors are great at creating interesting characters and detailed descriptions. Sometime I need to reread Mr. Saul’s novels. I believe he retired from writing several years ago. His books are really creepy! Mr. King’s novels are great too. The Shining happens to be one of my favorite books.
