The Friday 56 & Friday Book Beginnings #21

My life/ books I’ve finished 

This past week I went to college for the final week before the summer and got to enjoy a miniature end of year party on the last day which unfortunately didn’t involve sticking to my healthy living plan but was fun and tasty all the same. I will be going back to college to do a higher level of Business Administration studies in September but I know that’s quite far from now.

My support worker and I haven’t really done anything in terms of walking only the mile long walk across the valley to the other town where the library is. Mostly we’ve been doing cooking and most of all packing. 😀 Namibia is coming up on Tuesday next week and this is something both my mum and I have been looking forward to even though we are both desperate for nothing to go wrong (this is a different holiday as mum will be driving, something she’s never done before on holiday). I’ve mostly been preparing for the upcoming trip by getting everything I need and sorting out my library books so they’re renewed until after we come back.

I just need to sort everything out with my plants but hopefully they’ll be alright 🙂 In terms of reading I still haven’t finished the massive Temple of the Winds by Terry Goodkind It’s not a bad book, not at all it’s just so looong and I haven’t really had enough time to read lately and I don’t think I want to take it with me on my trip as I’ve had a specific reading plan for there figured out for quite a while now…

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

I’ve been seeing this one pop up a lot in bookshops around me for quite a few years but I remember I turned my nose up at it when I first saw it as it wasn’t fantasy. Nowadays I’m willing to read most types of historical fiction too whether they have magic in them or not and this book has a high GR general rating…

The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang 

I have GOT to read this one day! So many good reviews plus a plot that is inspired by Chinese history with a very dark atmosphere and a main character everyone says is as tough as nails, basically ideal for me 😉

For a Muse of Fire by Heidi Heilig

I know I mentioned this book in a Waiting On post but words cannot describe how much I want to read this series and how much I wish there were more diverse books like this featuring more diverse characters… Knowing me I’ll probably get all excited like now and end up not liking the book even though at the moment I can’t see how that would ever be possible 😛 😉
