Down the TBR Hole #12

Down the TBR Hole is a bookish tag created by Lost in a Story It is made to help us shorten our ever growing TBR piles!

Here’s how it works:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Currently on my TBR: 1123 books

Finding Sky (Benedicts, #1)Dark Life (Dark Life, #1)The Shadow Society (The Shadow Society #1)Veracity

Book #116 Finding Sky by Joss Stirling

Date added: August 3, 2013

I’m a bit torn on this one.. it has a high GR rating but a vague description and a lot of my friends seem to like it.. I myself think I’ll pass though because my library doesn’t seem to have it and that description doesn’t really sell it.

Decision: Remove

Book #117 Dark Life by Kat Falls

Date added: August 3, 2013

I remember when I saw the second book of this series in my library I added this one immediately. Now it seems my library has nothing by this author but this does still sound very good so perhaps they can get these books in again one day..

Decision: keep

Book #118 The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski

Date added: August 3, 2013

I am a huge fan of anything where parallel universes are involved and maybe this is good, maybe not but the plot in itself doesn’t seem to hold my interest like it did back then.

Decision: Remove

Book #119 Veracity by Laura Bynum

Date added: August 3, 2013

Another book where governments have fallen and a new dystopian world order has risen… I know that type of description would have easily taken me in years ago but now I like to dig deeper. And it doesn’t look like this one’s available where I am either.

Decision: Remove

Ashfall (Ashfall, #1)The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1)Rot & Ruin (Rot & Ruin, #1)

Book #120 Ashfall by Mike Mullin

Date added: August 3, 2013

I know this should be an easy keeps for me as I LOVE apocalyptic novels, however I just read that description and think meh… Library hasn’t got it either…

Decision: Remove

Book #121 The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Date added: August 3, 2013

Yay my library has all this series! No more need be said..

Decision: keep

Book #122 Rot and Ruin by Jonathan Maberry

Date added: August 3, 2013

My library has a few of this series and many of my friends say these books are definitely worth it, but I’m always looking for new apocalyptic or zombie books that are available widely 🙂 Hmmm high GR rating too…

Decision: keep

Epic (Epic #1)Ashes of Twilight (Ashes Trilogy, #1)The Pearl Wars (Skyship Academy, #1)

Book #123 Epic by Conor Kostick

Date added: August 3, 2013

Believe it or not, my library has the last book in the series but none others. I really wish the library would be more conscious of when a book is part of a series like these awesome sounding ones 😛

Decision: keep

Book #124 Ashes of Twilight by Kassy Tayler

Date added: August 3, 2013

I was thrilled about this when I first saw it, now it doesn’t excite me at all and that’s just the description 😛

Decision: Remove

Book #125 The Pearl Wars by Nick James

Date added: August 3, 2013

Same old, same old, devastated earth, wars and shit….

Decision: Remove

So I added a lot of books on August 3rd 2013 😛 Sometimes I don’t know what I was thinking back then…. Have you read any of these? What did you think of my choices? 🙂

  2. Looking for a zombie apocalyptic book?? I’ve got you covered!! You MUST check out Jamhuri, Njambi, & Fighting Zombies by author Ted Neill. The book follows 5 interweaving character stories that all involve a recent zombie outbreak. However, unlike your typical “zombie outbreak” plot this outbreak is magic in nature and causes the souls of people to depart from their bodies and become trapped in Limbo. There is SO much going on in this story that makes it so much more than just a zombie apocalypse read and it has heart and some really lovely life lessons too. The characters are uniquely wonderful too. I really hope you will give this a read and perhaps it will make it to a future list of yours?? Author’s website here: https://www.tenebraypress.com/
